Lo and Behold, the Lita.

(Lo. Lita. Get it? I'm so not funny.)

It's becoming increasingly obvious that I am nothing if not the owner of a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas. I mean, I know shoe styles have been trendy before. Slouchy, tall, oxfords, slutty-strappy sandals, etc. But I don't think there's been a craze like this in a while. I mean, it's a specific brand, very specific shoe, it comes in a zillion colors and if you type in JC Lita on Google you'll get half-sold-out-stores and half-crazy-bloggers-WHERE CAN I GET A PAIR?!-ing. Super high heel. Lace up. At least a dozen colors, I get it. I don't exist without these, but I'm trying so hard. If anyone finds a pair of Taupe Suede Litas in a 6.5 or 7 I'll give you my ovaries and a tiny spoon for them. Jeez.

Re-Shape Your Hair

Photobucket

Sebastian x LB "Re-Shape Your Hair" Contest closed this week - this was one half of my entry. Mohawk for chin-length hair, anyone? All you do is make a box with the top part of your hair (the section that you want to stand up) and curl about three sections of it then run some gel through it, then pull the rest of your hair back and spray the living daylights out of it. Hairspray is your best friend. Then close it with some bobby pins.

If you're styling your hair up...
I'd suggest 'Samy Fat Hair' hair spray because it turns your hair into a rock. It might look a little plastic-looking if you overspray though, and I would not suggest it for anything with your hair down, especially if you're using it to tease.

If you're styling your hair down...
Big Sexy Hair 'Spray and Play', it holds your hair very well and is a great tool for volume. Good for teasing, pulling your hair back, la la. Your hair will stay put but is still manageable so you can (wait for it) spray and play. I believe it's about ten or twelve dollars for the big can, but so worth it.

Before you style...
Use a mousse. Unless you want your hair giving up halfway through the day. I really like Herbal Essences 'Body Envy Volumizing Mousse'. It's only about three dollars and makes your hair listen to you when you're telling it what to do, so to speak. It also works if you're going natural. Even without styling, it helps shape and volumize your hair, and I'm pretty sure it reduced the crazy frizz that's normally going on in the back of my hair.

let's be more than Trends (Poofy Skirts with Pockets)

I don't think there's anything more delightful than slipping into your favorite heels and a beauuutiful full skirt that fits just so at the waist with pockets. You know, those pockets. They're popping up everywhere, weddings dresses, day-to-day ensembles, and they never fail to give you that wonderful, slightly quirky feeling. You know that outfit that just makes you feel great? You stand a little straighter and turn on your model walk, you know that those double-takes are for you. That's what a poofy skirt with pockets does to me. Pair it with one of those basic black scoop-necks with the ruffled sleeve, belt it, step into those coveted booties of yours that you get a honey bunches of compliments on, yes, please.

Which is totally what I was wearing earlier today, but I'm not biased, I swear. Ha. I don't think a full skirt is exactly new, but when you give it pockets? Love. I'm seeing them everywhere and not complaining.

POOFY SKIRT WITH POCKETS, come home and meet the family.

Thank you, Valentino. I hope this look never gets old.

let's be more than Trends (Ankle Socks with Heels)

I'm sure we have all experienced that moment when something or someone we love that is 'trending' reaches that stage between being in and being out. I don't love the concept of trends so much but hey, we're human.
It's one thing to wear something that isn't in style, per se (which I think is totally fine. More than fine.) and another thing to wear something that is on its way out. No one likes to beat a dead horse/cute accessories that have been way overdone. It's dead; put the stick down. I'm talking wayfarers, "geeky chic", punky tutus, pairing that super casual tee with your shiny, sheen-y, overflowing Betsey skirt. These probably all looked soo innovative at one point, but personally, at my little art school, they are beyond cliché. Stick a fork in you, you done.

and then, there are some trends that I would lo-ove for them to stick around. Make you breakfast, call you the next day, whoa ho ho baby, you are more than just a one-night stand.

ANKLE SOCKS WITH HEELS, can I see you again?

I can't think of anyone who does it better than Shan S. from http://webblog.tinytoadstool.com/. The length of the sock has to be juust right, (I'm talking Goldilocks-Just-Right. Do it right or don't do it at all) in order to not look frumpy or just odd. They should fit so they don't bunch up between straps or get confused for high-heeled Mandals. (( UO makes some super cute ones )) The shoe that you pair it with is a matter of your personal taste, but it's a fine line between adorably chic and whaaaaaat? Ick. But done right, I think this look will never fail to turn dem heads.

What's YOUR favorite trend? In or out, always fabulous to you.

You can see more of Shan S.'s looks on her blog, (mentioned above) or get your hands on some of her fantastic pieces at her online boutique, http://www.tinytoadstool.com/, whichy'all know is where I'm going as soon as I publish this post.
